This website is devoted to those of us who collect, study, or otherwise enjoy the beauty and diversity of one of the World's great minerals, CORUNDUM.  We welcome you to come in and browse, and we especially appreciate your helpful suggestions and contributions as we continue to develop this never ending "work in progress".

Corundum is an economically important mineral, being the basic substance of both ruby and sapphire, as well as emery abrasive.  It also occurs in nature in a variety of attractive forms, and is found in surprisingly many different localities.  This great diversity is what motivated us to assemble the collection and make the information available to all who share the passion or need to know.

We hope you enjoy the pictures of specimens from our collection of nearly three thousand specimens, as well as others we wish we owned.  We also have articles (many by guest authors) on science, geography, and history which vary from introductory level o extremely arcane.
