This website is devoted to those of us who collect, study, or otherwise enjoy the beauty and diversity of one of the World's great minerals, CORUNDUM

In gem form, CORUNDUM  is known as RUBY or SAPPHIRE.  The rough materials from which gemstones are produced, especially the well-formed crystals and clusters, can be spectacular; but the mineral can also be found in astonishingly many other strange and beautiful "sub-gem" forms, in association with many other minerals, and from literally hundreds of different localities around the World

  
 

 
     
 
 

      Welcome!  We hope you enjoy the images, find our articles entertaining and informative, and share our passion for the mineral "corundum".  What you see here is the result of more than twenty years of collecting and learning anything about corundum we can find! 
     We are greatly indebted to our many friends who are contributing to the website, and hope "CORUNDUMINIUM" becomes a focal point for all who would enjoy collecting it, learning about it, or simply enjoying the beauty and diversity of this most remarkable mineral.  Though we place no restriction on reproduction or dissemination of our own prose or images, we do ask that they not be used for profit; and please note that some of our contributors' materials are copyrighted or restricted by request (where indicated) .
     As we develop the new website, the original one will be kept intact so you won't miss us.  We really enjoy this effort, and hope the informal style provides a little humor along with its serious content for you as well.

    We are now selling specimens in our spare time, and a selection of our our offerings can be seen by clicking on the "Earth Treasures" button above.  Others are frequently posted on eBay in no reserve auctions, under Member ID "corundumaniac". 
      What we offer varies from inexpensive specimens for "starter" collections up to World Class gem crystals and huge, "architectural" pieces.  Please enjoy the variety by going to look, and if something interests you (or if there is something you want that you don't see), please email me at wheierman@corunduminium.com.  I will reply as soon as I can. 
 
     Earth Treasures will be at the InnSuites Show, Rooms 326-327, from January 27 to February 11.   I will be in Tucson only February 3 to 11; dividing my time between the Westward Look Resort show (assisting Superb Minerals India) and our InnSuites rooms until the 6th, and then camping out at InnSuites for the duration. 
     My good friend Amos Knapstad, notorious Yogo Gulch sapphire miner, will be our InnSuites sales manager.  We hope you will come to visit, to enjoy our outstanding specimens for sale and on display, and perhaps to take a few home.
