The "Z"
countries, Zambia, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe ae all located
in southeastern Africa.. Because there is a lot of
border crossing before some specimens are bestowed with
their origins and the borders themselves transect some of
the deposits, alleged countries of origin may be one or two
off. It is probably better to think of the origins as
regionally rather than politically determined. |

The two on the left are old specimens from
Mozambique. The first is terminated by contact
on the top, and the second shows a rare, smooth face
which is a termination that almost looks sawn and
polished.
On
the right are two that were recently mined in
Zimbabwe. Note the low relief vicinal forms
and the "modified hex outline" of the second
crystal. These are quite common, and one can
often find them on Ebay. |
